Participate and influence

According to section 22 of the Local Government Act (410/2015), "(a) municipality's residents and service users have the right to participate in and influence the activities of the municipality."

Municipal activities are a natural area for residents to exert their influence, as we all use municipal services. It is the task of the municipality to offer residents of all ages diverse and effective opportunities dor participation. Participation can be promoted, for example, by arranging opportunities for discussion and for views to be presented, arranging opportunities to participate in the planning of the municipality's financesm developing services together with service users, and supporting the independent planning and preparation of matters by residents, organisations and other organisations.
