Municipality of Inari Production Incentive
The Municipality of Inari production incentive is a 10–15% rebate on expenses incurred for audiovisual productions in the municipality of Inari. The aim of the production incentive is to generate income for the local economy, employ local residents, develop the infrastructure and expertise of audiovisual activities in the municipality of Inari, and increase the year-round visibility of Inari. The production incentive aligns with the municipality's strategic focus on diversifying industries and promoting year-round development.
The production incentive consists of a discretionary 10% base rebate and the possibility of an additional 5% support. The additional 5% support need to apply separately. The additional support promotes year-round activity and international visibility for the municipality of Inari. The condition for the additional support is that the filming takes place outside the peak winter tourism season (December-March) and/or the production has an international distribution or letter of intent agreement outside the Nordic countries.
The budget for the production incentive is confirmed annually in the financial plan approved by the Inari municipal council. In 2025, the annual budget is €130,000. The granting process for the incentive is discretionary and it is awarded as a grant within the limits of annual appropriations. The production incentive is a three-year pilot project for the years 2025–2027. The application process for the production incentive is continuous, and the granting process is carried out in the order of applications and within the limits of appropriations.
